The eyes of the world were on Chicago when the Century of Progress, known as the Chicago World’s Fair, ran from 1933 to ’34. Major League Baseball made the event noteworthy when it staged its first All-Star Game in 1934. With the sport on center stage, Babe Ruth made his presence felt when he swatted a home run in the exhibition.
