This amazing poster takes you back to the first two decades of Major League Baseball in Arlington, when the Washington Senators picked up from the DC swamp and headed for North Texas for a market that would truly embrace the franchise. Published in 1989, this poster celebrates the key accomplishments of the 1970s and 1980s with a brilliant photo collage of Hall of Fame-quality memorabilia. Some of the highlights include: the rare “cowboy-hat-on-ball” logo style on a pennant; the jerseys of superstars Toby Harrah and Nolan Ryan; the 1981 Gold Glove award for Buddy Bell; Jim Kern’s 1979 AL Rolaids Relief Man Award; Jim Sundberg’s 1977 Gold Glove; the first Rangers’ Topps baseball card set; an autographed ball from teenage sensation David Clyde’s 1973 debut; Jeff Burroughs’ 1974 AL MVP Award; Mike Hargrove’s 1974 Rookie of the Year award; Billy Martin’s 1974 Manager of the Year award; an autographed base by Bump Wills celebrating his club-record 52 stolen bases in 1978; Al Oliver’s Silver Slugger bat from 1981; Larry Parrish’s bat from 1982’s three-grand-slam week; Oddibe McDowell’s bat from his 1985 cycle; signed balls from pitching aces Charlie Hough and Gaylord Perry; and various other programs and icons from the historic era. This rare poster was sponsored by Budweiser as a 1989 gameday promotion, and very few survived the stadium in good shape. We were lucky enough to obtain a small quantity of the poster in brand-new-never-used, original condition from a local collectibles dealer, and are making them available on a first-come, first-served basis.
